Making a Picture Book
Jannie Ho makes some great children’s books. Her illustrations are so much fun – I love her characters and color palettes, and her compositions are always integral to the story. With 11 books under her belt, it’s a unique pleasure to get a peek at her process for creating the “dummy” (or rough draft) for her book, Road Work Ahead.
Check out Jannie’s full post here, to join her on a walk through pacing, page turns, revisions, and continuity. It’s great evidence to share with those that like to think children’s books are easy to make and take little to no thought or time to create.
While you’re at it, you might want to hunt down a copy of The Great Reindeer Rebellion. It’s a perfect read for the holidays, filled with Jannie’s signature illustrations, and a fun twist on The Night Before Christmas.
