Interview with Artist Jess Smart Smiley

My first graphic novel is called Upside Down: A Vampire Tale, and it comes out this October. That’s just two months away! Eeek! Comics, drawing, and telling stories have been passions of mine for as long as I can remember, so this book has been a long time coming.

I recently got a chance to talk with Atom Magazine about Upside Down: A Vampire Tale – where the idea for the book came from, how I set out to write and illustrate the book, my history with comics…the works! Their Summer issue is out now and features our three-page interview (p.22-24).

If you’re interested in Upside Down: A Vampire Tale, then you’ll want to check out the book’s Facebook page and read the 9-page preview on the Top Shelf Productions website. The book is also available for pre-orders on Top Shelf’s site.

Thanks! I think they did an incredible job with the page layout and matching up all the colors to what I used in the book. Long live the Atom!
